 ABSTRACT:

                The present world posts a very high demand for fuels; this in turn emphasizes the need for renewable energy resources. Bio-energy being one of the important one among them is getting its efficiency and effectiveness increased by the development of the new source “algae”. The main purpose of the ‘look out’ for a new fuel is to control and manage the already existing renewable energy and their resources in addition to the development of a new and more effective “renewable energy”. Algae which is one of the micro-organism which was considered to be offensive to human well being is now turning out to be one of the “world’s future needs”. The abundance of cabon-di-oxide, water and sunlight in nature makes the algae fuel a fast growing renewable energy source gaining importance.As algae are tolerant to many adverse conditions like deserts and saline and/or brackish water they can be produced in any part of the world. Algae has significant concentration of lipid in itself which can be extracted by various methods and they can be converted into a very effective source of fuel.Algae have the potential to replace almost 140 billion gallons of gasoline and diesel for our automobile industry, and lead us on a global path towards environmental sustainability by producing 3654 gallons biodiesel per acre per year. Algae fuel is gaining high importance because of its very high efficiency in this era of energy revolution by playing a very vital role to complement, control and manage both the non-renewable and renewable energy.
