Engineering Tools
This is an inventory of computer based mathematical and analytical tools that are utilized by the Engineering Directorate at JSC to perform computations, assessments, modeling, simulation and analysis. Some of these tools have been custom built in-house and others are commercial off the shelf tools. These tools are available for use or in support of products and services requested and negotiated with the Engineering Directorate.

Control System Toolbox
Control System Toolbox™ provides industry-standard algorithms and tools for systematically analyzing, designing, and tuning linear control systems. You can specify your system as a transfer function, state-space, pole-zero-gain, or frequency-response model. Interactive tools and command-line functions, such as step response plot and Bode plot, let you visualize system behavior in time domain and frequency domain. You can tune compensator parameters using automatic PID controller tuning, Bode loop shaping, root locus method, LQR/LQG design, and other interactive and automated techniques. You can validate your design by verifying rise time, overshoot, settling time, gain and phase margins, and other requirements.

Curve Fitting Toolbox™ provides graphical tools and command-line functions for fitting curves and surfaces to data. The toolbox lets you perform exploratory data analysis, preprocess and post-process data, compare candidate models, and remove outliers. You can conduct regression analysis using the library of linear and nonlinear models provided or specify your own custom equations. The library provides optimized solver parameters and starting conditions to improve the quality of your fits. The toolbox also supports nonparametric modeling techniques, such as splines, interpolation, and smoothing.

After creating a fit, you can apply a variety of post-processing methods for plotting, interpolation, and extrapolation; estimating confidence intervals; and calculating integrals and derivatives.

Certain capabilities not documented in the FDF exist within the software for contingency scenarios, specifically that RPOP has the ability to use a radar range bias and CCTV tilt biases to automatically compute and display the "true" relative range between the Orbiter and target when inputting marks.

Simulink Control Design
Simulink Control Design™ lets you design and analyze control systems modeled in Simulink®. You can automatically tune the gains of PID controllers to meet performance requirements. With this product you can also non-intrusively find operating points and compute exact linearizations of Simulink models at various operating conditions. Simulink Control Design provides tools for computing simulation-based frequency responses without modifying your model. A graphical user interface (GUI) lets you design and analyze arbitrary control structures modeled in Simulink, such as cascaded, pre-filter, regulation, and multi-loop architectures.
Simulink Design Optimization
Simulink Design Optimization™ lets you improve designs by estimating and tuning model parameters using numerical optimization. You can increase model accuracy by using test data to calibrate physical parameters, such as mass or resistance. You can then improve system performance, reduce system cost, and meet other objectives by automatically tuning design parameters in your Simulink® model. For example, you can use design optimization techniques to optimize controller gains to meet rise-time and overshoot constraints, or jointly optimize physical and algorithmic parameters to maximize overall system performance.
Simulink Report Generator
The Simulink® Report Generator™ product can automatically create documentation from Simulink® and Stateflow® models. It lets you document software requirements and design specifications and produce reports from your models, all in a standard format.
Simulink Verification and Validation
Simulink Verification and Validation™ automates requirements tracing, modeling standards compliance checking, and test-harness generation.

You can create detailed requirements traceability reports, author your own modeling style checks, and develop check configurations to share with engineering teams. Requirements documentation can be linked to models, test cases, and generated code. You can generate harness models for testing model components and code before the complete system becomes available.

Simulink Verification and Validation provides modeling standards checks for the DO-178B and IEC 61508 industry standards. Additional support is available through DO Qualification Kit and IEC Certification Kit.

Statistics Toolbox
Statistics Toolbox™ provides a comprehensive set of tools to assess and understand data. Statistics Toolbox includes functions and interactive tools for modeling data, analyzing historical trends, simulating systems, developing statistical algorithms, and learning and teaching statistics.

The toolbox supports a wide range of tasks, from calculating basic descriptive statistics to develop­ing and visualizing multidimensional nonlinear models. It offers a rich set of statistical plot types and interactive graphics, such as polynomial fitting and response surface modeling.

All toolbox functions are written in the open MATLAB® language so that you can inspect the algorithms, modify the source code, and create your own custom functions.

suggar is a code which performs a pre-processing step for the Overset CFD method. The code prepares the overset volume grids for the flow solver by computing the domain connectivity database, and blanking out grid points which are contained inside a solid body.
Symbolic Math Toolbox
Symbolic Math Toolbox™ provides tools for solving and manipulating symbolic math expressions and performing variable-precision arithmetic. The toolbox contains hundreds of MATLAB® symbolic functions that leverage the MuPAD® engine for tasks such as differentiation, integration, simplification, transforms, and equation solving.

Symbolic Math Toolbox also includes the MuPAD language, which is optimized for handling and operating on symbolic math expressions. It provides libraries of MuPAD functions in common mathematical areas, such as calculus and linear algebra, as well as specialized areas, such as number theory and combinatorics. You can extend the built-in functionality by writing custom symbolic functions and libraries in the MuPAD language. All functions can be accessed from the MATLAB command line or from the MuPAD notebook interface, where you can manage and document your symbolic computations.

System Identification Toolbox™ software lets you construct mathematical models of dynamic systems from measured input-output data.
